Rates are the same whether your lesson is in-person or online. Rates will also increase on a yearly basis.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is requored for each lesson. Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to cancel, either by email or phone. If you do not cancel your lesson 24 hours before your scheduled time, you will be liable for an attendance fee of $25. Exceptions are only made for emergency situations. However, if attendance issues occur consistently, I may feel the need to release you from the studio.
MAKEUP LESSONS: In general, if a lesson needs to be cancelled and can't be moved to the prior or following day, then we won't meet until the next week. Additionally, you won't be charged for anything if you cancel your lesson in a timely manner. Just make sure to keep up your practice until your next lesson. If the student or myself is out of town but are still available for a lesson, then we will move to an online format at the same day and time.
BE PROMPT: Arrive before your lesson is supposed to begin so that you are ready to play when your time starts. If you are late to your lesson, I will not extend the time for you to fulfill the allotted time. You will also still be responsible for your full lesson payment.
COME PREPARED: Arrive with your instrument, music, lesson book, etude books, etc. Students should be practicing their instrument every day in addition to completing their listening.
PAYMENT: This is due at the end of each lesson, either by check, cash, or Zelle/Venmo/Paypal. Typically, students pay in advance by the month, however weekly or bi-weekly payments are also acceptable. If you pay by the month and a lesson is cancelled, you won't be billed again until the set of lessons you already paid for have been completed.
PARENTS: It is vital to the success of your child for you to be involved in the lesson, especially if they are young. It is very difficult to learn how to practice on your own as a youngster. Along with the commitment from your child, your commitment is needed as well, if not more. I like to involve the parent in the lesson so you are able to practice with your child at home, especially with beginners and young children. Please plan to be present during the full lesson. Read The Philosophy and For Parents sections for more information about how to help your child. To encourage a better understanding, I also require parents to read Nurtured by Love by Shin'ichi Suzuki, which can be found on the Resources page.
